Why Choose a Transtherm Wine Cabinet?
The key to achieving a good cellar is to ensure that it is insulated as well as possible. The better the insulation, the less the compressor will start and the less it will burn the humidity inside.
Contrary to popular belief, a wine cabinet does not produce humidity, but a good cabinet will be designed to avoid drying it.
With Transtherm, the walls are nearly 7 cm thick, which is equivalent to 2,5 metres of earth or 4 metres of concrete.
Air Circulation & Hygrometry
All Transtherm wine cabinets have a natural ventilation system using the principle of the thermodynamic pump. This system not only offers good air circulation of permanently renewed air (hot air rises, cold air drops), it also guarantees good hygrometry, whereby the air is humid when entering the cabinet.
This exclusive process which, by heating the condensed water, allows the introduction of humid air within the cabinet and considerably increases the hygrometry (values between 55 and 80%).
NB: When installing your cabinet, it is important to pour the equivalent of one glass of water onto the floor of the cabinet to activate the process.
By using the thermodynamic pump principle for the air circulation, this also means that there are no consumables, such as charcoal filters, found in more and more competitor’s products. With filters costing between £25 and £35, to be changed twice a year, this represents an economy of £500 to £700 over 10 years.
Embossed Aluminium Walls
The walls of a Prestige range are all made of embossed aluminium, allowing a better distribution of the temperature inside the cabinet, aluminium being a conductor.
It guarantees a good homogeneity of temperature inside the wine cabinet and offers a low gradient of temperature.
The embossing retains the humidity, which prevents the water from flowing too rapidly down the walls and out to the back draining tank.
All Transtherm wine coolers have a heating element inside. If the cabinet is located in an unheated room – garage, outhouse etc, where the temperature at various times of year will drop to below the required temperature, the heating element would start up to stabilize the temperature. This is what we named the defrosting cycle.
For example: for a temperature set at 12°C, if the temperature drops by 1,5° (10,5°C), the heating element switches on to increase to the set temperature.
The performance of our wine cabinets are guaranteed, even with a low external temperature (from 0°C/ 32°F). It is not the case for the other manufacturers brands.
This heating element offers a defrosting cycle when necessary.
Embedded in the insulation, the steel frame prevents any risk of distortion of the body of the wine cabinet (200 bottles weigh 270 kg).
To reduce vibration from spreading as much as possible, the evaporator is embedded within high density polyurethane foam.
All Transtherm cabinets offer a visual alarm when there is a temperature defect.
