In most wine storage cabinets, the insulation is formed by injecting liquid polyurethane at high speed between two panels which form the walls of the wine cabinet. This expands, sets and forms the insulation barrier. Tastvin, unhappy with some of the properties of polyurethane insulation, chose extruded polystyrene as insulation for their range of wine cabinets for the following reasons:-
- It has far superior insulation properties and allows the wine cabinet to be made with pre-formed panels which produces a much more robust cabinet with perfectly stable insulating material.
- There is no possibility of the panels deforming, as there is with polyurethane.
- When using polyurethane, the refrigeration system and electrics extend into the insulation panels. If there is a problem or leak in the gas system, it is impossible to access the problem area without destroying the body of the cabinet and the unit becomes irreparable. Not so with the Tastvin pre-formed polystyrene panels. All components within the cabinet, including the entire refrigeration system, can be repaired or replaced, if necessary. For this reason, Tastvin wine storage cabinets have an unrivalled longevity.
The Tastvin design allows for many parts to be replaced by the customer, rather than an expensive engineer call-out. Useful, once the guarantee period has expired. However, Tastvin back-up their confidence in the quality of their product by giving extremely extensive guarantees. 10 years anti-deformity guarantee on the cabinet shell and door, 10 years guarantee on the refrigeration plate and 5-years guarantee on all other components, including compressor, thermostats, led, lights etc. Standard guarantees - at no extra cost.
